Virginia Beach, V.A.-- Catawba men's and women's track and field teams impressive weekend was highlighted by seven new school records being set. The event was held by Norfolk State University in Virginia.
Erick Ramirez finished first in the men's mile and set a new school record with a time of 4:15.61. He also won the men's 5K with a time of 14:31.21 to break his second school record of the weekend.
Samantha Payne had a big weekend etching her name on two new school records. The first was a first-place finish in the women's 400m with a time of 56.17. Her second school record of the meet was a fifth-place finish in the 200m with a final time of 24.94.
Rashaun Noble finished sixth in the men's 60m with a time of 6.80. A time fast enough for a new school record and currently best for Top 25 in Division II.
Carmen Bishop finished with a school record in the Pentathlon. Bishop best event was a fourth place finish in the Pentathlon shot put.
Everette Rhymer won the 800m on the men's side and set a new school record with a time of 1:53.54.
In the women's 3000m Catawba had one of the best outings of the weekend. They finished with three athletes in the top five. Aislynn Reagle broke the school record and placed first in the event with a time of 10:00.12. Natalie Almond and Mikayla Jones would finish fourth and fifth respectively and both with times under the previous school record prior to Reagle's finish.
