Salisbury, N.C. —- The Catawba College beach volleyball team celebrated its Senior Day on Friday afternoon with a pair of sweeps over Gaston College and Wake Tech. Between the two sweeps, Catawba celebrated its three seniors – Molly Mather, Maggie Marable and Raytchelle Miranda. Catawba improved to 12-10 overall on the season.
Christina Knotts and Miranda took their #1 doubles in the opening match against Gaston College 21-7, 21-13, Morgan Childress and Katie Willingham followed up with a 21-12, 21-11 sweep and Mather and Ragan Ball took down their #3 doubles opponent 22-20, 21-10. Kennedy Kimbro and Megan Halford took home a victory in #4 doubles, while Devyn Berg and Marable wrapped up the sweep with a 21-5, 21-10 victory.
Catawba won each of its five matches in the second dual against Wake Tech, as Miranda and Knotts won 21-7, 21-13, Childress and Willingham earned a 21-14, 21-13 win and Mather and Ball won in three sets 21-10, 19-21, 15-7. Kimbro and Marable earned a 21-11, 21-13 win and Sydney Rutledge and Halford made it a perfect 10-for-10 with a 21-16, 21-16 win.
The Catawba Indians return back to action on Tuesday, traveling to University of Lynchburg for a pair of duals against Richard Bland and host Lynchburg.
