Atlanta, Ga. —- The Catawba College men's and women's swim teams competed in day one of the Emory University Last Chance meet, opening the first day strong as they look to book spots at the NCAA National Championship next month
HOW IT HAPPENED
200 Yard Freestyle Relay
- Catawba's women opened the day strong with a win, as the team of Alix Henras-Marouf, Marit Reckmann, Brinkley Watson, and Ash Fortin combined for the leading time of 1:34.02
500 Yard Freestyle
- Ella Gutenwik finished third in the women's heat in a photo-finish, being just edged out for second place by Wingate's Emily Shuttleworth, 5:07.76 to 5:07.78
50 Yard Freestyle
- Henras-Marouf took fourth in a tightly contested women's heat, with her time of 23.96 being .03 behind the third-place mark and .06 behind the second-place effort. Reckmann placed sixth with a time of 24.07, with Taylor Wilson taking 19th at 25.17
100 Yard Butterfly Time Trial
- Watson earned a second-place finish with a time of 56.66
100 Yard Breaststroke Time Trial
- Gabi Moll claimed second place with a time of 1:05.51
200 Yard Breaststroke Time Trial
- Rowan Viles took the win for Catawba's men with a time of 2:00.55, with Balazs Meszaros ensuring an all-Catawba top-two by finishing right behind Viles at 2:00.82
