Women's Golf wraps up 7th-place finish at Low Tide Invite

Mt. Pleasant, S.C. – The Catawba College Women's Golf team was in action on Tuesday for the second day of the Low Tide Invitational, securing a 7th-place finish following the third and final round of play at the Dunes West Golf Club with an overall score of +65, 929

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Emily Wellspeak jumped multiple spots on the final day of play, ending the final frame T-27th with a score of +15, 231 after sitting T-44th following the opening two rounds on Monday. Wellspeak improved her score by three in each round, shooting a solid +2, 74 over the third frame after debuting with a +8, 80 in the opening round. She shot par-or-better on 14/18 holes with a pair of birdies during the final round, her best golf of the tournament

  • Mary-Paige King was able to stay right around where she had been after the opening two rounds, ending Tuesday's action tied with Wellspeak in 27th with the same score, +15, 231. Having finished the opening two rounds with an overall score of +11, 154 that had her T-26th, King shot a +4, 76 in a third round that was very much a tale of two halves. After a rocky start with five bogeys in the opening seven holes, King was able to right the ship, shooting even on 10/11 of the following holes and notching a birdie on the other as she only moved down one spot

  • Chloe Crane was also able to climb the leaderboard after Tuesday's result, moving into a final position of T-29th with a score of +16, 232 after a +11, 155 effort on Monday that saw her sitting in T-34th. Crane shot par on 13/18 holes over the final frame to secure a +5, 77 mark

  • Lauren Hackler finished play in 57th at +27, 243 after a +12, 84 in the final frame that saw her slide a few spots after finishing Monday T-48th

  • Maddy Vogan was able to jump 10 spots to T-58th with a final ledger of +28, 244 after playing her best golf on Tuesday. Vogan scored a +4, 76 in the third round by shooting pars on 14/18 holes, finding her form after a rocky Monday that saw her with a score of +24, 168
