Game Recap: Women's Track and Field |

Three event wins highlight Track & Field's day at the Phoenix Invitational

Elon, NC – Three event wins highlighted  Track & Field's day at the Phoenix Invitational hosted by Elon University. Oussama Ajala won the men's 1500m, Seth Caudill won the men's 5000m, and Javier Gomez-Wilson won the men's long jump to highlight the outing.

Sprints & Hurdles

100 M

Mallory Witherspoon fourth in 100m dash with a sprint of 12.19. Efe Egberi came in 7th with a time 12.25.

 

Javi Gomez-Wilson placed eleventh on the men's side with a time of 10.92

 

100 Hurdles

Zamearea Simpson placed 4th in the 100 hurdles with a time of 14.94.

 

110 Hurdles

John Shearin IV placed eight in the 110 hurdles with a time of 15.82

 

200 M

 Efe Egberi finished eighth in the event securing a time of 25.23

 

 

400 M

 Onii Bivens placed eight in the women's 400m with a finish time of  58.79

 

Tyler Johnson placed third on the men's side of the event with a time of 49.39

 

400 Hurdles

Alexis Devlin placed fourth in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:11.85.

 

On the men's side of the event  Maquenly Diaz-Crespoplaced fifth with a time of 57.34 and teammate John Shearin IV placed sixth with a time of 58.28.

 

 

Distance

800m

Tanner Smith finished second in the men's 800m run with a time of 1:57.00

 

 

1500m

Rachel Overby represented the Catawba women with a 14th place finish in the 1500 with a time of 5:16.04

 

Oussama Ajala won the event on the men's side in a time of 3:59.22. Teammate Brannon Burns came in ninth with a time of 4:07.00.

 

2000m Steeplechase

 

Eddie Urban placed third in the men's 2000 steeplechase with a time of 6:45.61

 

3000m

 

Hannah Caudill had an impressive third place finish in the women's 3000m clocking a time of 10.22.82.

 

For the men, Ian Pierce placed fourth in the event with a finish of 8:50.33

 

5000m

 

Junior Sydney Cockerham placed eight in the event. She ran a time of 18:17.77

 

The Catawba men has an impressive showing in the event placing five athletes in the top ten.

Seth Caudill won the event with a showing of 14:54.71. He was followed by Will Lyons in second running a 14:59.70. Anthony Lecorce trailed Lyons with a time of 15.02.44. Andrew Whitehead placed fifth (15:28.73) and James Shue seventh (15:40.25).

 

Jumps & Throws

Long Jump

 Javi Gomez-Wilson won the men's long jump crown with a leap of  23' 7".

 

Pole Vault

Seth Drake placed fourth in the men's pole vault clearing a height of 11' 5¾" 3.50m

 

Shotput

Adrian Rudisell finished tenth in the men's shotput with a throw of 39' 3½"

 

Discus Throw

 Rudisell also competed in the men's discus taking home seventh with a throw of 124' 9½"

 

Javelin

Carmen Bishop place fourth in the women's javelin throw launching a distance of 124' 2½"

 

Relays

4x100 Relay

For the Catawba women a team of Onii Bivens, Zamearea Simpson, Lea Legros  and Mallory Witherspoon came in fourth with a time of 48.55
