Salisbury, N.C. – The Catawba College Women's Golf team began postseason play on Sunday at the Salisbury Country Club, competing in the first round of the South Atlantic Conference Championships and putting in a stellar opening day of play as they wrapped up the first 18 holes T-2nd at +18, 302 as a team

Chloe Crane led the side with a strong +3, 74 on Sunday that saw her finish the day T-7th among individuals. Crane was consistent throughout the opening round, holing eight pars over the front-nine and tallying seven more over the back-nine as she sunk 11 straight between the 5th and 15th holes

Maddy Vogan closed the first round just behind Crane, T-11th with a +4, 75 ledger. Vogan carded a +3, 38 over the front-nine that included six pars before sinking eight straight to open the back-nine on the way to a +1, 37 stretch to round out the day

Lauren Hackler finished Sunday T-15th with an opening round score of +5, 76. She began the day with six pars over the opening nine holes as part of a +3, 38 start and proceeded to add five more pars and a birdie over the back stretch as part of a +2, 38 span

Mary-Paige King carded a +6, 77 on Sunday that saw her finish the first round T-19th. Crane started the day with a tough +6, 41 on the opening nine holes but bounced back superbly over the back-nine with an E, 36 performance that included a birdie and seven pars

Emily Wellspeak wrapped up the opening round T-25th with a +7, 78 ledger as she sunk five pars during the front-nine in a +3, 39 start before adding six more as part of a +3, 39 back-nine

As a team, Catawba's total of 61 pars was the second most on Sunday and just two behind the leading tally of 63

Catawba would also finish third as a team in each of Par 3s (+3/3.15), Par 4s (+20/4.36), and Par 5s (+2/5.13)

Hackler and Crane finished Sunday T-2nd on Par 3s, at E/3.00 while King's mark of -1/4.67 tied for second-best on Par 5s

Crane 15 pars were the second most on Sunday, and just one behind the leading tally of 16. Vogan's 14 tied her for fourth-most
