#20 Men's Tennis sweeps past Mount Olive 7-0

Mount Olive, N.C. —- The 20th-ranked Catawba College men's tennis team returned from Spring Break with a clean 7-0 sweep of Mount Olive on the road in non-conference action.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED

DOUBLES

- Mateo Berne and Sebastian Zabala earned a win in #3 doubles, 6-2

- Thomas Kostka and Alessandro Valletta helped clinch the doubles point with a 6-3 victory over the second-ranked Trojan doubles team

 

SINGLES

- Ryosuke Inagawa earned a swift 6-1, 6-1 win in the #6 singles match

- Now 45th-ranked Berne earned a 6-2, 6-2 win at the #3s position

- Valletta helped clinch the match with a 6-3, 6-2 victory at #5s

- Agustin Mastri found himself in the top-ranked singles position for the first time this season, defeating the top-ranked Trojan 6-1, 7-6, winning the tiebreak 7-4

- Luca Bergonzi came back from a 4-6 loss in the opening set before claiming the final two sets 6-3, 6-3 to claim the #4s match

- Kostka won a back-and-forth 6-1, 1-6, 7-6 victory, winning the tiebreaker 7-5 in the #2 singles match

- Catawba's men return to South Atlantic Conference action at the Johnson Tennis Courts on Saturday, hosting 18th-ranked Lincoln Memorial at 1:30 p.m.
