Raleigh, N.C. —- The Catawba College women's outdoor track and field team split up this weekend, taking on the Raleigh and Davidson Relays, which saw grad student Emer Mcglynn earned a first-place finish in the women's 1500.
HOW IT HAPPENED
RALEIGH RELAYS
100-Meter Dash
- Mallory Witherspoon was the top Catawba finisher in the 100-meter dash, placing 36th with a 12.24
- Efemena Egberi was the other top-50 finisher for the Catawba Indians, finishing 44th with a time of 12.29
10K Run
- Madi Clay placed 33rd in the women's 10K with a time of 35:02.98
DAVIDSON RELAYS
100-Meter Dash
- Sanaia Hill and Lea Legros were top-25 finishers in the 100-meter dash, placing 12th and 15th, respectively
200-Meter Dash
- Witherspoon, Lesi Burgos and Hill were 12th, 13th and 16th, respectively, in the 200
400-Meter Dash
- Egberi was the runner-up in the women's 400, besting Division I runners from Gardner-Webb, USC Upstate and Charlotte with a time of 57.68
- Onii Bivens was also a top-five finisher with a fifth-palce mark of 59.24
400-Meter Hurdles
- Tatiana Chigwerewe earned a sixth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:08.69
800-Meter Run
- Catawba's Joanna Owczarz and Sydney Cockerham were top-eight finishers in the 800, as Owczarz finished fifth with a time of 2:19.25 and Cockerham was eighth with a mark of 2:20.56
1500-Meter Run
- Mcglynn came out victorious in the women's 1500 with a personal-best time of 4:39.87, just beating out a pair of Division I runners from Davidson
- Cockerham earned another eighth-place finish with a 4:49.46
Long Jump
- Haleigh Washington earned a 12th-place finish in the long jump, reaching 5.08 meters
