Wingate, N.C. —- The 7th-ranked Catawba College women's tennis team aced a huge South Atlantic Conference test on Friday, topping 22nd-ranked and five-time defending regular season SAC champion Wingate on the road, 4-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
DOUBLES
- Sofia Antolini and Rin Igarashi earned a 6-3 win in the #2 doubles position
- Nika Dundovic and Tina Gomes helped clinch the doubles point with a 6-3 of their own at #3s
- Ami Miya and Lilliana Drukerova led 5-4 in the top-ranked grouping at the stoppage point
SINGLES
- Igarashi started off with a victory over the 5th-ranked Wingate singles opponent
- Anna Wise earned a 7-5, 6-2 victory in the #2s to inch the Catawba Indians closer to victory
- Drukerova helped clinch the match with a 7-5, 6-2 at #4s
