Men's Track and Field competes at Raleigh/Davidson Relays

Raleigh, N.C. —- The Catawba College men's outdoor track and field team split up this weekend to take on both the Raleigh and Davidson Relays.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED

RALEIGH RELAYS

100-Meter Dash

- Winfred Porter was the top Division II finisher in the 100m dash, finishing fourth overall with a speedy mark of 10.47

- Teammate Miles Stephens also turned in a top-10 effort in the event, racing to a time of 10.55

- Porter finished ahead of the likes of Division I runners from Virginia, Coastal Carolina and Duke

 

400-Meter Dash

- Tyler Johnson placed 28th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.00

 

4x100-Meter Relay

- Catawba's 4x100 relay team finished as the top Division II team in the event, finishing just ahead of Dule with a time of 39.94

 

200-Meter Dash

- Stephens earned a top finish in the 200m dash with a fourth-place 20.92

- Porter turned in a top-20 effort with a mark of 21.30m, good for 19th overall

 

DAVIDSON RELAYS

100-Meter Dash

- Brendan Henby was the top Catawba finisher in the 100-meter dash with a 10th-place time of 10.72

- Johnson was not far behind with a mark of 10.78, good for 13th

- Au'Wann Gary was the third top-30 finisher for the men, placing 28th with a 10.96

 

200-Meter Dash

- Henby also earned a top-15 finish in the 200-meter dash, placing 15th with a time of 22.09

 

400-Meter Hurdles

- Mikell Simpson added another top-10 finish for the Catawba Indians, this time in the 400m hurdles, recording a 57.53 mark

 

800-Meter Run

- Catawba turned in a total of four top-20 finishes in the 800-meter run

- Will Lyons was the top finisher among them in seventh with Seth Caudill not far behind in 10th

- Tanner Smith (16th) and Anthony Lecorche (19th) were Catawba's other top-20 placers

 

1-Mile Run

- Ian Pierce and Andrew Whitehead were right beside each other at 6-7 in the men's one mile run with 4:22.29 and 4:24.78 times, respectively

- Carson Wells, James Shue and Brannon Burns were the other top-20 finishers for the Catawba Indians at 15th, 17th and 19th

 

Javelin Throw

- Dominick Gentile was the sixth-place finisher in the javelin throw with a heave of 54.37 meters

 

Long Jump

- Chris Brown also put up a sixth-place effort in the men's long jump, reaching 6.70 meters

 

4x400-Meter Relay

- Catawba's top team of Jordan Grant, Anthony Holden, Simpson and Johnson placed third in the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:21.65

 

UP NEXT

- Catawba track and field is back in action in a couple weeks, competing between the Southside Power & Fitness and Duke Invites
