Salisbury, N.C. —- The Catawba College softball scored 12 runs, including in each of the six innings, in game two of a doubleheader with 17th-ranked Tusculum at Whitley Field in South Atlantic Conference action on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST INNING
- Tusculum again scored in the first on a one-out RBI single
- Hales tied the game on an RBI double down the right field line
- Maddy Altiers dropped an RBI single down the line
- Molly Strider made it a 3-1 lead after the first with a one-out RBI groundout
SECOND INNING
- Gallagher provided a run on an RBI sac fly, but a second runner trying to score was thrown out at the plate
THIRD INNING
- A bases-loaded hit-by-pitch brought the Pioneers back within two in the top of the third
- Hales' leadoff homer restored the 5-2 lead for Catawba
- Hartman scored another on a sac fly, pushing the lead to four
FOURTH INNING
- TU scored again in the fourth on a sac fly
- Carter provided another leadoff solo blase for Catawba in the bottom half, leading 7-3
FIFTH INNING
- Tusculum loaded the bases with one out and scored on a groundout, but Baquie struck out the potential tying run
- Gallagher brought insurance on a two-out RBI double and Carter scored on a wild pitch to push the lead to 9-4
SIXTH INNING
- Hartman mashed a three-run homer with two outs in the sixth to enact the mercy rule, giving Catawba the ranked win
