Boone, N.C. —- The Catawba College men's track and field team competed in its second straight weekend of action in the Tarheel State, traveling up to Boone to compete in the App State Open on Friday and Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Javelin Throw
- Dominick Gentile finished as the runner-up in the men's javelin throw with a heave of 50.32 meters
Long Jump
- Mason Kuhneman turned in a top-10 finish in the men's long jump, reaching 6.35 meters
Triple Jump
- Chris Brown placed second in the men's triple jump, with a try of 14.44 meters, the top collegiate finisher at the event
5000-Meter Run
- Oussama Ajala was the fourth-place finisher in the men's 5K, completing in 15:06.47
- Stefan Lauchner, Ian Pierce, Anthony Lecorche, Michael Martinez, Andrew Whitehead, Brannon Burns and Carson Wells were the other top-20 finishers for Catawba, who alone took 40 percent of the top-20 placings
One-Mile Run - Open
- James Shue and Tanner Smith earned top-12 placing in the men's one-mile open run, with ninth- and 11th-place finishes, respectively
110-Meter Hurdles
- John Shearin IV finished in third in the men's 110m hurdles with a time of 15.58
100-Meter Dash
- Jeremiah Hailstock reached the finals and placed fifth in the 100-meter dash, posting a time of 10.91
400-Meter Dash
- Anthony Holden was Catawba's leader in the 400m dash, finishing in 50.66 seconds
200-Meter Dash
- Hailstock turned in another top-10 finish, this time in the 200m dash with a run of 21.73 seconds, good for seventh place
One-Mile Run - Invitational
- Seth Caudill and Will Lyons finished 1-2 in the men's invitational mile, completing side-by-side at 4:08.82 and 4:08.91, respectively
