Boone, N.C. —- The Catawba College women's track and field team turned in six top-five finishes at the App State Open in Boone on Friday and Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
One-Mile Run - Open
- Hannah Caudill was the top finisher in the women's one-mile open run, besting runners from App State and Virginia Tech with a mark of 5:00.99
100-Meter Hurdles
- Haleigh Washington earned a fourth-place finish in the women's 100m hurdles, with a 15.93-second effort
400-Meter Dash
- Onii Bivens was Catawba's top finisher in the 400-meter dash, placing fourth with a time of 57.38
800-Meter Run
- Eden Barnwell earned a podium finish in the women's 800, finishing just three seconds behind the event winner with a 2:15.80 effort
- Joanna Owczarz and Sydney Cockerham also turned in top-15 finishes with eighth- and 12th-place showings, respectively
200-Meter Dash
- Bivens finished eighth in the 200m dash and third among Division II runners with a mark of 25.05
One-Mile Run - Invitational
- Natalie Almond was the runner-up in the MJ Harrelson Invitational, nearing breaking a five-minute mile with a time of 5:00.75, good for fastest among DII runners
4x400-Meter Relay
- Catawba's team of Tatiana Chigwerewe, Cockerham, Barnwell and Bivings placed third in the women's 4x400, earning a time of 4:00.33
