Morton Added to Catawba Track & Field Staff

SALISBURY, N.C. – Mashario Morton has been named assistant coach of the Catawba College track and field program, head coach Jason Bryan announced on Thursday. Morton will help oversee Catawba's track and field throws.

"We are extremely excited to add a coach with as much experience and knowledge as Coach Morton," Bryan said. "Our throws program is going to be a priority, and she is the exact person to take that group to the next level!"

Morton previously served as the Head Track and Field Coach at Division II Newberry College where her teams saw tremendous success. She produced the first conference champion in Program history, first All-American in history along with ten South Atlantic Conference champions in three years.

Prior to Newberry College, Morton was the Head Girls' track and field coach at Dixie High School, where she coached eleven state champions, and her teams became back-to-back region champions.

During her own athletic career, Morton spent four years as a thrower at Winthrop.

"First, I want to thank God for leading me to this incredible opportunity to work alongside a great coaching staff, talented student athletes, and to be a part of the rich Catawba culture," said Morton. "I am incredibly excited to begin a new chapter coaching here at Catawba College. It's truly an honor to be given this opportunity to contribute to the ongoing success of the Track program and the Salisbury community."
