Salisbury, N.C. — The Catawba College Sports Performance staff has brought on Truth Freeland as Assistant Director of Sports Performance, Director of Sports Performance Brock McMichael announced.

"Truth has been an extremely valuable addition to the Sports Performance staff," McMichael said. "Having another expert in the room ensures quality coaching is provided for each of our student-athletes. In collaboration with the sports medicine staff, Truth has helped us revitalize our return-to-play protocols for injured athletes. I am excited for the future of Catawba Sports Performance as our staff continues to develop."

Freeland joined the Catawba staff in January following a year as an Assistant Director of Strength & Conditioning at Mercer University in Macon, Ga. There, he oversaw the 2024 SoCon regular season champion Mercy Volleyball team as well as off-season training for women's basketball and assisting with football and men's basketball.

At Catawba, Freeland works directly with men's and women's basketball, men's and women's soccer and all aspects of football.

"I am truly grateful to serve as the Assistant Director of Sports Performance here at Catawba College," Freeland said. "Every day, I get to work with the sports and teams I love, fueling a passion that's been with me from the start. From my very first conversation with Coach Brock, it was clear we shared the same vision, and it's a blessing to see our department taking strong steps towards the future we have envisioned."

Freeland resides in Kannapolis.
