ROCK HILL, S.C. — Catawba College junior Mary-Paige King has been named the WePlayed Sports South Atlantic Conference Women's Golfer of the Week following her performance at the Glassy Mountain Autumn Classic.

King turned in a runner-up finish at the two-day event, held Oct. 5-6 at The Cliffs at Glassy in Landrum, South Carolina. She finished with a three-round score of 220 (+7), placing second individually in the 75-player field.

King opened the tournament with a strong first round before taking the lead after 36 holes. She entered the final round atop the individual leader board before finishing with an 81 to post a seven-over-par tournament total.

King's performance helped lead Catawba to a third-place team finish. The Catawba Indians posted rounds of 312, 302 and 317 for a three-round total of 931 (+67), finishing just one stroke behind second-place Belmont Abbey. Lander won the team championship with a 902 (+38).

The runner-up finish marks another strong showing early in the season for King, who earned All-Tournament honors after placing fifth at the Savannah Lakes Invitational in September. She finished that event at even-par 216, including rounds of 71 and 70 to open the tournament.

King and the Catawba women's golf team return to action Oct. 12-13 at the LeeAnn Noble Memorial in Dahlonega, Georgia.
