MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. — Taya Buxton made multi-shot improvements in each round, climbing 12 spots on Tuesday to lock the Catawba College women's golf team into a sixth-place finish at the LR/Dunes West Intercollegiate.
Despite entering the day in fourth, Catawba faded behind Lenoir-Rhyne and Tusculum whose slightly-better rounds moved the South Atlantic Conference into the next spot off the podium. Favorable weather conditions factored into nearly the entire field improving their team scores, including Catawba who finished the event with a 316-316-309 (941, +77) scorecard.
Lincoln Memorial strengthened its advantage over North Georgia with the only sub-300 round of the tournament, firing a nine-over-par 297 to finish with a comfortable lead over UNG and Erskine in second and third place. Playing as an individual, UNG's Camryn Wright defended her spot at the top with a consistent 73-73-73 (219, +3) card to earn medalist honors.
