OKATIE, S.C. — For the second consecutive season, the Catawba College women's golf team bagged a runner-up finish at the Oldfield Intercollegiate hosted by USC Beaufort as tournament proceedings drew to a close on Tuesday afternoon.
The tournament was shortened from 54 to 36 holes as play was suspended due to weather on Monday morning; nonetheless, Catawba rose to the occasion with its first podium of the year using a 40-over-par 616. The blue and white outperformed South Atlantic Conference foe and 26th-ranked Carson Newman while trailing only No. 17 UIndy, the team champion at 603 (+27). Sydney Himes (Columbus State), Yunyi Luo (SCAD), and Caroline Whallon (UIndy) fired 149 shots (+5) to tie for first place.
