HARTSVILLE, S.C. — Madison Widecki buried a whole hand of goals in the Catawba College women's lacrosse team's 14-8 triumph over Coker on Wednesday, marking the squad's win in South Atlantic Conference play.
TEAM STATS
- Catawba (4-7, 1-4 SAC) rolled Coker (3-7, 1-5 SAC) in the shooting category 30-18, powered by a 15-6 advantage in the middle two quarters
- The Cobras committed five more turnovers than the Catawba Indians, finishing at a 20-15 final count
- The Catawba Indians registered just one failed clear in 20 attempts (.950) while limiting the home team to a less appetizing 15-for-17 (.882) ledger in transition
- By the same margin of turnovers, the visitors won the ground ball battle 20-15 as Coker had the fewest pickups by a Catawba in-conference opponent since 2024
- Coker ruled the draw 14-10, outside of a fourth quarter that saw Catawba lead 3-2
- Ashlea Nieland improved to 4-4 in net with seven saves; across the field, Olivia Schmidt tacked on 10 saves but was less efficient by a narrow .467-.417 difference

- Widecki found the back of the net a career-high five times on nine shots with three ground balls
- Abby Shuren bagged four points evenly split between goals and assists with a lone ground ball collection
- Ava Stanza and Emily Better netted three and two goals, respectively, while each picked up a pair of ground balls
- Allison Filosa forced four turnovers with two ground balls and one draw control
- Maddie Fox had a similar statline with three caused turnovers and four GBs, in addition to two draw controls and an assist
- Mary Sorvillo corralled a team-high four draw controls, scored a goal, and tracked down her 100th career ground ball
