Women’s Lacrosse finishes 2026 slate at #16 Wingate

WINGATE, N.C. — The Catawba College women's lacrosse team concluded its season with a 22-1 defeat on the road against 16th-ranked Wingate at Irwin Belk Stadium on Wednesday.

TEAM STATS
- Catawba (7-10, 3-7 SAC) took six shots, firing an on-goal shot in each period to total five; Wingate (14-3, 10-0 SAC) offered 45 shots, 29 of which were on target
- The Bulldogs pressured Catawba into 25 turnovers while committing 13 themselves
- The Catawba Indians posted a 14-for-20 (.700) clearing ledger as Wingate finished two first-quarter miscues away from perfection at 20-for-22 (.909)
- WU led the ground balls category 25-11 with an advantage of 17-8 on the draw
- Ava Kunza went the distance and tallied seven saves — four in the fourth stanza — for Catawba, while Saskia Aunger and Emerson Sula had even minutes in the crease for WU

INDIVIDUAL STATS
- Sarah Maier delivered the Catawba Indians' lone goal off an assist from Kylie Harris in the third quarter
- Maddie Fox corralled a team-best three ground balls, one pickup ahead of Aly De La Noval and Allison Filosa who registered two apiece
- Audrey Adelsberger led the squad in takeaways with three caused turnovers followed by Filosa with two
- Filosa, Layne Macknik and Madison Widecki each hawked down two draw controls to pace the lineup

NOTES
- Catawba's seven victories marks a four-year high, the most since the eight-win 2022 campaign
- Adelsberger finishes her career with 68 caused turnovers, good for fifth all-time
- Five seniors bid their farewells to the program, leaving 20 student-athletes who are eligible to return for the 2027 season
