SPARTANBURG, S.C. — The Catawba College women's cross country team finished third at the Converse Kick-Off on Saturday, placing three runners among the top 20 and scoring 71 points in the 6-kilometer race.

Sophomore Mandi Pollard paced the Catawba Indians with a third-place finish, crossing with a time of 22:11.8. Sophomore and twin sister of Mandi, Morgan Pollard followed in sixth at 22:34.2.

Junior Eden Barnwell placed 12th with a time of 22:56.5, while senior Justine Sanchez finished 18th in 23:08.6 to give Catawba four runners inside the top 20.

Senior Hannah Caudill rounded out Catawba's scoring five, finishing 32nd in 23:56.6.

Freshman Evangelina Montanye also competed for the Catawba Indians, contributing to Catawba's team effort with a time of 25:19.7

UNC Asheville won the team competition, followed by Emory, and Catawba finishing third.

Catawba will look to continue its efforts when it hosts the ChicknLegs XC Throwdown Sept. 26 at Salisbury Community Park.
