Jason Jones

Jason Jones joined the Catawba Athletic department as the Associate Athletic Director in July of 2023. 

His primary duties include administering, monitoring, documenting, and enforcing NCAA Division II and South Atlantic Conference rules and regulations for Catawba Athletics. With nine years of NCAA experience including seven years as a DII athletic administrator, he provides ongoing rules education to student-athletes, coaches, and staff. In addition to his compliance duties, Jones also serves as the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee advisor for Catawba student-athletes, providing guidance and support to SAAC functions. He is an active member of NACDA and NAAC.

Jones has served as Chair of the NCAA Division II Academic Requirements Committee since September 2024 and has been a member of the committee since September 2023. He has also served on the NCAA Division II Eligibility Review Committee, as well as the Academic Interpretations, Initial Eligibility Waiver, and Progress-Toward-Degree subcommittees. Through these roles, he has gained broad experience in Division II academic and eligibility matters and have contributed to the development, review, and interpretation of legislation affecting Division II student-athletes and institutions.

He has also been a member of the Eligibility Review Working Group, participating in the development of the proposed NCAA Division II five-year eligibility model for the 2026 Convention, as well as the committee's review of the new age-based eligibility model adopted in August 2026. For the past seven years, Jones has been a voting delegate at the NCAA Division II Business Sessions while representing his institution in significant discussions and legislative issues affecting NCAA membership.

Jones has championship administration experience as a director/host for the 2024 and 2026 NCAA Division II Baseball Regional and Super Regionals, as well as the 2025 Women's Soccer Championship held at Catawba. He also served as a site representative for the 2018 NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Regional hosted by NC State.

Before joining Catawba, Jones spent the previous five years at Limestone University, serving as the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and Athletic Academic Success. This was his second stint at the university after serving as the Director of Compliance in 2017. As a member of the athletics administrative team, he also was the sports administrator for Men's Soccer, Women's Soccer, and Acrobatics & Tumbling. 

Prior to his second stint at Limestone, Jones was the Director of Compliance at Gardner Webb University in 2018.

Jones received his master's degree in sport management with a Certification in Project Management from Western Carolina University. He earned his undergraduate degree in sport management at Gardner-Webb.
