Catawba College

Lee Wattam enters his second season as the assistant women's soccer coach and head developmental team coach at Catawba College in fall 2026.

Wattam's first season in Salisbury was filled with success as the Catawba Indians claimed both the South Atlantic Conference regular-season and tournament championships with a 17-1-4 overall record, going unbeaten at 7-0-3 in league play.

Wattam came to Catawba after three seasons as the assistant coach with Chowan Women's Soccer. Over the course of his tenure, the Hawks posted six student-athletes to an all-conference team with a Conference Carolinas Tournament appearance in 2023.

He moved to the women's side after one season as a graduate assistant with the Chowan men. During the 2021 season, the Hawks won 13 games en route to a Conference Carolinas Tournament championship and an upset advance over West Florida via penalties in their opening NCAA Tournament game.

The Leeds, England, native enjoyed a three-year college soccer career at Chowan (2016-18), appearing in 52 games with 16 goals and nine assists. He was a two-time All-Conference Carolinas selection, placing on the third team in 2017 before earning second team honors in 2018. Wattam was also named to the league's All-Academic Team and the 2017 NCCSIA All-State squad. During the summer, he competed for the Florida Kraze in 2015 and Greenville FC in 2017. Before coming to the states, Wattam played with Grimsby Town F.C. Academy in his home country.

Wattam graduated from Chowan in 2018 with a bachelor's degree in Recreation, Wellness and Sport.
