Women's Soccer Overwhelms Coker 8-0

SALISBURY, N.C. -- Catawba rolled to an 8-0 win over Coker in South Atlantic Conference women's soccer action on Saturday night at the Frock Soccer Complex. The Catawba Indians, ranked 19th in NCAA II, moves to 8-0-1 overall and 4-0 in the SAC. The Cobras drop to 0-4-2 and 0-4.

Catawba got goals from six different players with Hannah Dunn leading the way with three. The eight goals are the most for the Lady Indians since they defeated Coker 9-0 back in 2009. Dunn's 14 goals on the season are the most since 2007 when Alexandra Beshk tallied 15.

Sharon Mayes started the scoring for Catawba in the fourth minute. Dunn scored her first in the 13th minute, while Helen Summerell capped the first-half scoring in the 24th minute. Dunn scored twice early in the second half, coming in the 48th and 63rd minutes to make the lead 5-0.

Rounding out the scoring for Catawba was Sydney Jimmo (67th), Carson Schoeppe (83rd) and Lillie Rusher (84th). Summerell and Jovana Sanchez each had two assists on the night. Jimmo and Rusher added assists in addition to their goals. Also assisting on goals were Maddie Capel and Emy Cloutier.

Catawba travels to Lenoir-Rhyne on Wednesday for a key league match with the Bears at 7:30 pm.
