SALISBURY, N.C. -- Visiting Anderson downed Catawba in three sets to earn a 25-9, 25-12 and 25-22 victory in South Atlantic Conference volleyball action at Goodman Gym on Saturday afternoon. The Trojans improve to 14-6 overall and 9-3 in the SAC, while the Catawba Indians fall to 9-9 and 6-6.
Anderson took early leads in the opening two sets and never let Catawba in those sets to go up 2-0. The Lady Indians battled in the third set with 11 ties and five lead changes before Anderson put the match away.
Raytchelle Miranda led Catawba with nine kills and hit at 35%. She also added three blocks. Dara Kane served a pair of aces, while libero Gabrielle Kuzma recorded 11 digs. Ashley Johnson and Jasmine Wooten each had four kills.
Noelle Knutsen paced four Anderson hitters with double digits in kills. She recorded a dozen kills and had three blocks. Sadie Kluner followed with 11 kills with Regan Duty and Jaelyn Grimm each totaling 10 kills. Grimm served four aces and setter Madison Roy handed out 43 assists.
Catawba is on the road for the next two weeks, starting with an away match on Friday at 5 p.m. at Lenoir-Rhyne.
