SALISBURY, N.C. -- Catawba advanced to the semifinals of the South Atlantic Conference Women's Soccer Tournament with a 1-0 victory over Newberry on Saturday night at the Frock Soccer Complex. The win pushes the top-seeded and ninth-ranked Catawba Indians to 16-0-2 on the season and into a match-up with fourth-seeded Carson-Newman on Friday. The Wolves cap their season at 7-11.

Helen Summerell scored the only goal of the match in the 52nd minute. Dribbling from the end line to the side of the box, the sophomore sent a shot from an angle to the far post to break the scoreless deadlock.

The Lady Indians kept their 13th clean sheet of the season to make the goal hold up. Jamie Kazenmayer recorded three saves for Catawba.

Catawba out-shot Newberry 26-9 and held a 14-2 advantage in corner kicks. Delaney Hood had four saves in goal for the Wolves.
