SALISBURY, N.C. – A day after their game with Lincoln Memorial was cancelled the night before, the Catawba College volleyball team welcomed the Carson Newman Eagles to Goodman Gymnasium. The Eagles took all three sets 25-13, 25-20, 25-15.
Catawba (3-11, 1-6 SAC) was without their top-two setters on Saturday, and as a result, the Catawba Indians were held to a negative hitting percentage on the day. Despite the struggles, Catawba did limit one of the top attacking teams in the conference to a .084 hitting percentage with 10 blocks from the middle.
Errors and service aces were Catawba's downfall as the home team committed 43 errors and the Eagles racked up 13 aces.
Raytchelle Miranda led the offense after splitting time as both a setter and on the outside attack. She finished the day with six kills, five digs, and three aces. Christina Knotts had 14 assists and three kills while Kary Hales added 10 digs.
The volleyball team will play next Friday on the road at Mars Hill.
