Men's Swimming Competes In Tri-Meet With LR and Wingate

SALISBURY, N.C. – The Catawba College men's swimming team hosted Lenoir-Rhyne and Wingate at Johnson Pool for a tri-meet over the weekend. Catawba fell 145-58 to Wingate and 122-79 to LR. 

Rodrigo Fernanadez won the lone event for the Catawba Indians when he took forst place in the men's 200 individual medley. Fernandez finished with a time of 1:59.91 to edge out LR's Ranato Herran who came in second with a 2:00.39. 

Catawba finished 2-3 in the 50-yard freestyle when Zach Hannah and Isaac Hunt finishes second and third respectively. Hannah nearly took first with a time of 22 seconds flat, but Wingate's Kevon Lockhart came in 16 milliseconds faster at 21.84. Hunt finished right on the heels of Hannah with a 22.38. 

Freshman Alejandro Alvarez rounded out Catawba's top finishes with a trio of third place marks in the 200 free, 200 IM, and 100 back. 

The men's swim team will head to Hickory this coming Saturday to take on the LR Bears and Lees-McRae at noon.
