HICKORY, N.C. – The Catawba College men's swimming team fell in a dual meet with the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears and Lees-McRae Bobcats over the weekend. Catawba was defeated 159-95 against Lees-McRae and 132-118 against LR. 

Rodrigo Fernandez took home the lone top finish for Catawba in the 100-yard backstroke. Fernandez won the event with a final time of 54.14. 

Numerous Catawba Indian swimmers took second place finishes including Lewis Mikesell in the 1,000-yard freestyle, Alejandro Alvarez in the 200 butterfly, Ofek Malul in the 50-yard freestyle, Fernandez in the 200 backstroke, Elias Hysing in the 500 freestyle, and Alvarez in the 400-yard individual medley. 

Catawba's 400-yard freestlye relay team, consisting of Hysing, Isaac Hunt, Malul, and Zachary Hannah also took second place. 

The men's swim team will be back in action in two weeks at the Fall Frenzy Mid-Season Invite in Charlotte.
