Durham, N.C. —- The 22nd-ranked Catawba College men's soccer team extended its win streak to six on Wednesday night, defeating Shaw University 4-1 in non-conference action at Durham County Memorial Stadium.

INDIVIDUAL LEADERS
- Joe Allerton scored two goals including the game-winner
- Salano Birch netted a goal and recorded an assist
- Sebastia Cerda-Tous joined the score sheet with a first-half goal
- Juan Pablo Nicoletti extended his league-leading assist total with another one Wednesday night
- Steven Lozano recorded his first point in a Catawba uniform with an assist
- Zak Stiffler made three saves in goal for yet another win in goal
HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF
- Kenny Hassler had a pair of shots on goal in the tenth minute, but both were saved by the Shaw keeper
- SU got a shot on target in the 20th minute, but Stiffler made the stop
- Cerda-Tous broke through just after to give Catawba a lead it would not lose
- Nicoletti assisted on an Allerton goal from the corner to give Catawba a 2-0 advantage in the 36th minute
- Allerton capitalized on a penalty kick opportunity in the 38th minute to balloon the lead to 3-0 before the halftime break
SECOND HALF
- Shaw earned a penalty kick in the 59th minute, but Stiffler stepped up for the save
- SU's Collin Gentle ended the Bears' shutout in the 60th, however
- Birch added an insurance score in the 85th minute off a Lozano assist

- Matches the team's six-game winning streak from last season
- First win as a ranked team since September 2006
- Catawba is the last undefeated team in SAC play after #4 Limestone fell at Wingate Wednesday night
- The Catawba Indians stand two points behind the conference leader with a game in hand
