SALISBURY, N.C. -- Tusculum shot a stellar 72% in the second half as the Pioneers rallied to knock off Catawba 89-77 on Saturday afternoon at Goodman Gym. The Catawba Indians, the Piedmont Division Champions, move to 20-7 overall and 15-3 in the league.

Tusuclum trailed 47-36 at the break, but made 18-of-25 shot in the final half, including a 7-for-10 mark from beyond the arc. While Tusculum was red hot, Catawba went ice cold. The Pioneers began their winning run five minutes into the final period. Down by nine, Tusculum used 14-4 run over a three-minute span to lead 59-58 with 12:04 remaining. The run extended to 19-4 by the 10:44 mark for a 63-58 edge. Catawba got within 66-65 only to see the Pioneers use a 8-0 run to stretch the margin to 74-65 with 5:33 left.

The Indians did use 16 offensive rebounds to out-score the Pioneers 19-0 on second-chance points, but couldn't shoot well enough to keep up the Tusculum in the second half.
