PREVIEW: Men's Soccer seeks to continue road success at Tusculum

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – The Catawba College men's soccer team ventures into the Volunteer State for a meeting with the Tusculum Pioneers on Sunday at 4:30 p.m.

 

PK for the Win

- Sebastia Cerda-Tous sent in the game-winning goal against Anderson via penalty kick in the 78th minute

- The PK goal was Catawba's first since Joseph Allerton delivered a blast from the spot on Oct. 14, 2023 at Carson-Newman

- Joe Whitney, making his first start between the posts, saved all three shots on goal hurled in by the Trojans

- The 1-0 victory marked South Atlantic Conference win No. 1 for the Catawba Indians who stand 1-2-2 in league competition

 

Road Warriors

- Catawba holds a 2-1-1 record in away matches, defeating Mount Olive and Anderson with a draw at No. 18 Lincoln Memorial

- Both SAC matches on the road featured late Catawba goals to equalize or go ahead

- For the past three seasons, the Catawba Indians have posted .500 or better marks in their away slate

- Bautista Vecchi-Ramello has scored a goal in four separate matches to lead Catawba with eight points including a team-high 23 shots with 10 on target

- Cerda-Tous is second on the team with three goals on 21 shots, putting nine on frame

- Noah Sapsford paces the assist category with two as five Catawba Indians have one apiece

- Vecchi-Ramello, Sapsford, and Jaime Serrano have started all nine contests

- Zak Stiffler has been the starter in goal eight times, averaging 2.08 goals against and a .464 save percentage

Scouting the Pioneers

- Tusculum comes into the contest still seeking its first victory of the year at 0-5-1, 0-2-1 against SAC foes

- Sunday's matchup will be Tusculum's first in 11 days due to the cancellation of a midweek match at North Greenville; last time out, the Pioneers dropped a 2-1 SAC duel to Lincoln Memorial on Oct. 2

- The Pioneers have managed just three goals this season, two by Clarenns Sainrimat and one from Mason Clark

- Two Tusculum goalies have multiple games played with freshman Noe Delmotte seeing the most utilization, posting a .706 save percentage with a 1.16 goals against average in four starts
