HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Catawba College women's volleyball team ventures to the Pee Dee to battle Coker on Friday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. inside the Harris E. & Louise H. DeLoach Center.
Last Time on the Court
- Catawba dropped Tuesday's match at Carson-Newman, 3-0, refusing the Catawba Indians their first league win and keeping the Eagles undefeated in SAC play at 6-0
- Jordan Danielson and Devyn Berg powered the offense with seven kills apiece, the latter's season high, to account for half of the squad's kill total
- Setters Sydney McCutcheon and Haley Moffett had double-figure assists with 14 and 10, respectively
- Annica Kagle notched points on two of her six attacks to give the rookie her first career kills
- Riley Hill supplied team highs of 16 digs and two service aces
- Danielson, Kagle, Natalie Rehm, and Katie Clark each earned a block assist
McCutcheon Settling In
- Through 10 matches, McCutcheon ranks sixth in the SAC with 6.06 assists per contest
- The rookie has nine games with double-digit assist marks including the last seven, a streak that started with a career-high 38 helpers in a five-setter against Southwest Baptist
- As a server, the Jefferson, Ga. product has nine aces and a .904 service percentage
- McCutcheon has played a large role on defense as well, slotting third on the team with 73 digs for a 2.09 per-set average
.200 or Better
- Both Catawba and Coker are undefeated when posting a hitting percentage of at least .200
- Catawba topped out at .329 in its 3-0 defeat of Barton in the season opener
- Coker's high-water mark was logged just three matches ago as the Cobras hit .224 to blank Newberry
All-Time Series
- The Catawba Indians have bested the Cobras in 22 of 26 all-time meetings, winning the last six contests via sweep
- Coker has not taken a set from Catawba since Oct. 25, 2019 when the Cobras successfully defended home court with a 3-0 victory
- Since becoming conference foes in 2013, the blue and white are 7-3 in Hartsville; each triumph has been a shutout
- The last triple-double in Catawba history was recorded by Rachel Stanford on Nov. 7, 2017 when she tallied 18 kills, 20 assists, and 15 digs
Scouting the Cobras
- Coker brings a 3-7 record into Friday's matchup as well as a 2-3 conference log
- The program returns home after two weeks on the road, defeating Newberry before falling to Southern Wesleyan and UVA Wise
- The Cobras have one of conference's younger lineups with five rookies appearing in all 10 matches; 47.6 percent of Coker's points have been notched by freshmen
- Meadow Morse's 5.39 digs per set ranks second in the SAC and 17th nationwide
- Kailyn Ivey holds the league's third-best blocks per set value of 1.10
- Cayla Gilmore has broken the 100-kill barrier in her first collegiate campaign as the Cobras' only player to average over three points per set
