SALISBURY, N.C. — On the heels of a third consecutive South Atlantic Conference sweep, the Catawba College women's volleyball team hits the road to battle Carson-Newman on Friday.
Broom, Broom, Broom
- Catawba notched its third straight home SAC win in sweeping fashion on Tuesday with a 3-0 shutout of Newberry
- The Catawba Indians' emphatic triumph brought their overall record back to .500 at 8-8 and improved the conference clip to 5-6
- Lillie Kate Rogers registered her third double-figure-kill performance in a row with her third double-double of the year; the Hartwell, Ga., product has tallied 10 or more darts in each of Catawba's eight wins
Best as of Late
- In the last week, Catawba players have put up some of the SAC's finest individual averages
- Riley Hill's 7.11 digs per set (64 digs in nine sets) are a full dig more than the next-highest player on the list
- Rogers shares the top per-set points position at 5.00 with Carson-Newman's Emerson Ahsmuhs while ranking fourth in aces per set and fifth in kills per set
- Rogers' seven service aces since Oct. 17 lead the conference
- Martina Foster and Sydney Wattles have posted top-10 hitting percentages; Foster's .500 clip is good for second and Wattles' .429 stacks up sixth
All-Time Series
- Catawba possesses a narrow 40-36 edge in its all-time series with Carson-Newman
- However, the Eagles have swept in two of the last three meetings with the exception being the 2023 matchup that Catawba won 3-1
Scouting the Eagles
- Carson-Newman has only lost a trio of matches in a 16-3 ledger and enter Friday's contest on a streak of four wins
- The Eagles hold the second-best hitting percentage in the SAC at .241
- Emerson Ahsmuhs has been dominant on the outside with 4.23 kills per set, the most in the conference
- Sophomore Arizonan Bella Cardello ranks first in the league for total blocks, sending 69 opposing attacks to the floor
