SAC Champs! Morin’s winner seals dramatic OT win for #2 Women’s Soccer in SAC final

Matthews, N.C. — The 2nd-ranked Catawba College women's soccer team claimed its eighth South Atlantic Conference Tournament championship in program history on Sunday when graduate student Kylie Morin netted the 98th-minute golden-goal winner in overtime to clinch the 3-2 win.

TEAM STATISTICS

- Catawba out-shot Anderson 15-11

- The Catawba Indians put eight shots on goal to the Trojans' four

- Both teams recorded three corner kicks

- Catawba was called for 15 of 27 fouls, both teams received a yellow card

INDIVIDUAL LEADERS

- Morin netted two goals, earning SAC Tournament MVP

- Bree Ehmer also scored a goal

- Morgan Delair recorded two shots

HOW IT HAPPENED

FIRST HALF

- Anderson struck first with a goal on a free kick in the third minute

- The Trojans tried again with a shot that hit the post in the sixth minute

- AU had another try in the 21st minute that was stopped by D?hne

- Morin got Catawba's first shot off in the 36rd minute, but AU made the save

- The Trojans got one more shot on target in the half, but D?hne made the stop to preserve a 1-0 deficit at the half

SECOND HALF

- Morin scored off a free kick to tie the game in the 60th minute

- Ehmer and Morin tried for the lead in a 90-second span, but the Trojans made the stops

- AU snuck behind the defense for a go-ahead goal in the 80th minute

- Ehmer muscled through two Anderson defenders for the equalizer in the 83rd minute

- Morin tried for a winner in the 89th minute, but AU made the stop to push to overtime

OVERTIME

- Delair found Ehmer in the box; her shot was blocked and Morin fired a shot on the first touch for the game-winner

GAME NOTES

- Catawba's eighth SAC Tournament title in program history

- Second SAC Tournament title under head coach Nick Brown, the first since 2021, the last time the Catawba Indians won the SAC regular season crown and finished the regular season undefeated

- Morin was named the SAC Tournament MVP with three goals and two assists in two games at Matthews

- Ehmer, Maria Rayburn and Delair were also named to the All-SAC Tournament team
