GREENWOOD, Ind. — The Catawba College women's volleyball team saw four members garner College Sports Communicators Academic All-District nods per the organization's Tuesday release.
Nominated student-athletes must compete in 90% or start 66% of their team's matches, have at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA, and be at least sophomore both academically and athletically.
Riley Hill, a 2024 recipient, becomes a two-time honoree while Sofia Beard, Haley Moffett and Lillie Kate Rogers pocket the accolade for the first time.
This past season, Hill recorded the program's 11th-best digs per set average of 5.14 and climbed into third place in career assists during the rally era (1,249). The Salisbury native was named the South Atlantic Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 20 following two league sweeps in which she tallied 60 digs and two aces.
Beard took an elevated role in the offensive and serve receive sectors for her junior campaign, more than doubling last year's outputs in kills (255) and digs (125). The Charlottesville, Va., product recorded double-figure darts on 14 occasions while landing second on the team with eight solo blocks.
At setter, Moffett wound up second on the team in assists (438, 5.41 per set), digs (133, 1.64 per set) and service aces (21) despite sharing time at the position. The Texan senior ended the season by posting four consecutive matches with 20 or more assists.
After limited action as a freshman, Rogers emerged as a key offensive piece for Catawba as the outside hitter finished with 256 kills (2.94 per set), 206 digs (2.37 per set) and 23 service aces. Her 291.5 total points, bolstered by team highs in kills and aces, is the most by a Catawba Indian since 2015.
The Catawba women's volleyball program has earned 20 Academic All-District selections by 17 unique student-athletes since 1992.
