SALISBURY, N.C. — The Catawba College men's basketball team used a 91-75 triumph over Emory & Henry on Saturday afternoon to remain undefeated at Goodman Arena through five games, marking the program's best start on home floor since 2005-06.
TEAM STATS
- Catawba (7-3, 3-2 SAC) shot a season-best 56.4% from the field while holding Emory & Henry (6-4, 2-4 SAC) to a 39.2% success rate
- From three-point land, the blue and white went 6-for-16 (37.5%) compared to the Wasps who made one more triple but were less efficient at 7-for-20 (35.0%)
- E&H led 28-33 in free throws and tallied an 80.0% mark at the line on an uncharacteristically rough day for the Catawba Indians whose 69.7% clip is their second straight sub-.700 average following six above it
- Although Catawba was outnumbered on the offensive boards for the first time in 2025-26, its prowess on defense produced a positive 32-29 rebound margin
- Despite the Wasps' narrow 16-12 edge in points off turnovers, the hosts won the volume battle 16-13 with a 12-7 lead in steals
INDIVIDUAL STATS
- Jordan Simpson racked up a season-high 20 points including four three-pointers to pace a six-man group of double-figure scorers
- Justin Banks added 14 points with a 6-for-8 clip from the field and a season-best five blocks, one shy of his career high
- Zion McDuffie nearly recorded more points than minutes, chipping in 12 with five rebounds across less than 14 minutes
- Ibra Athie was a team-best +29 thanks to his strong overall performance of 13 points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals
- Carson Daniel took his distribution skills to another level as the sophomore guard's 12 assists are the most by a Catawba Indian in at least 15 seasons; his assist total alone was more than E&H's entire team (11)
