Gaffney, S.C. —- The 17th-ranked Catawba College baseball team was held scoreless on two hits on Friday night, falling its series opener against Limestone in South Atlantic Conference action.

TEAM STATISTICS

- Limestone out-hit Catawba 6-2

- Both teams recorded an extra-base hit; the Saints had the lone homer

- The Catawba Indians recorded both errors in the contest

- Both teams left six runners on base

- Limestone's pitchers threw a shutout, allowing just two hits and four walks, striking out five; Catawba's staff allowed six earned runs on six hits and eight walks, striking out six

INDIVIDUAL LEADERS

- Braeden Major and Seth Sharpe combined to throw 2.2 shutout innings without allowing a hit

- Two walks and two hit-by-pitches brought home an early run for Limestone in the second

- The Saints built on their lead with two two-RBI singles and an error to lead 6-0 after two innings

SIXTH INNING

- Sion Barnette's three-run homer made it 9-0 Limestone in the sixth

EIGHTH INNING

- An RBI single in the eighth put the mercy rule into effect in the Saints' win
