Women's Golf records program's second-best performance, finishes third in Low Tide Intercollegiate

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. – The Catawba College women's golf team collected its first podium finish of the year, taking third place at the Low Tide Intercollegiate.

Catawba posted a 54-over-par tournament, a mark that stands second all-time in program history, with a team score of 918 to rank third in 54-hole performances. The squad shot a 303 in the first round to set a new season low, then improved by a stroke in the second 18 with a 302.

Rachel Carlson used a second-round par – her second of the year – to record a season-best score of 225 (+9) and lead the team in T-7th place. Sara Kristinsdottir chopped off 19 shots off last week's result, firing a 229 (+13) featuring a round-two 72 to take T-13th. Mary-Paige King also tied for 13th place, picking up two birdies on Day Two, as she and Kristinsdottir had the sixth-best score through two rounds.

Taya Buxton landed in the middle of the pack at T-37th, recording a 74 in the opening round before finishing with a 240 (+24). Emily Rosenschein beat her previous career best by four shots at 242 (+26) and registered a season-best 78 in the third round to stack up T-42nd. Competing as an individual, Valentina Moran rounded out the Catawba representatives with a 261 (+45) in a 66th-place finish.

Event host Limestone topped the team leaderboard at 882 (+18), five strokes ahead of runner-up North Georgia (887, +23) to lead Catawba on the podium. The Saints went one-two in individual standings with Claudia Hastings (211, -5) winning medalist honors and Karla Lagerstrom (215, -1) coming in second place, finishing as the only two golfers under par.

After a week of rest, Catawba will begin spring break hosting the Space Coast Collegiate Championship on Feb. 10 and 11 at Duran Golf Club.
