Newberry, S.C. —- The 9th-ranked Catawba College women's tennis team defeated 36th-ranked Newberry in a matchup of nationally ranked South Atlantic Conference programs in Newberry on Tuesday, improving to a perfect 13-0 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

DOUBLES

- Ami Miya and Lilliana Drukerova earned a quick 6-0 win at #1 doubles, but the Wolves took the doubles point

SINGLES

- Rin Igarashi picked up a quick 6-1, 6-2 win at #6 singles for Catawba

- Sofia Antolini maintained her undefeated season in singles play with a 7-6, 6-0 victory against Newberry's top-ranked singles opponent

- Anna Wise won her opening set 6-0 and battled back from a 6-4 loss in set two with a 6-1 victory in the decisive third to take the #2 match

- Miya followed suit, bouncing back from a 4-6 loss in the opening set with a 6-1 and 6-4 victories in the ensuing set to help clinch the match with a win in the #3 match
