ST. LOUIS – The Catawba College men's volleyball team fell in the quarterfinal round of the Intercollegiate Volleyball Association Championship to Rockhurst, 3-1, on Friday afternoon to bring its inaugural season to an end.
TEAM STATS
- Fourth-seeded Catawba (13-12) hit .275 with 56 kills, while No. 5 seed Rockhurst (19-10) recorded a .286 clip with 63 kills
- The squads posted identical .354 setting percentages although the Hawks held a 56-51 edge in assists
- The blue and white were out-aced 6-2, but were more accurate in service by an .895-.866 margin as Catawba committed 10 errors to Rockhurst's 13
- Catawba's 55 digs tied the 10th-highest total in a four-set match among all Division I/II teams this season, narrowly beating the 54 tallied by the Hawks
- The Catawba Indians piled up 7.5 blocks as Rockhurst managed five
INDIVIDUAL STATS
- Eli Zdonek keyed the attack with 22 kills on a .417 hitting percentage, adding six digs and two blocks, as fellow graduate student Trevor Phillips had 10 kills to mark his 21st double-figure day of the season
- John Cordray tacked on his first career double-double with 14 strikes and 11 digs while chipping in three stops (one solo)
- Kristian Smith notched an assists-digs double-double using 45 dimes with 10 digs, also elevating for one solo block
- Wyatt Eastin fired in both of Catawba's service aces in a three-kill, three-block affair in a completely errorless performance
- Max Adkisson collected a team-high 16 digs, setting a new per-set career high and tallying the second-best total of his rookie year
NOTES
- Catawba's 13-12 finish makes it one of two Division I/II programs (of six full members) with a winning record in its inaugural season; the other is Rockhurst
- With just four upperclassmen on the roster, Catawba is expected to return 14 players for the 2026 season
