#19 Women’s Soccer erupts for eight goals in win over UMO in home opener

Salisbury, N.C. —- The 19th-ranked Catawba College women's soccer team opened up its home slate in 2025 with an offensive explosion in the 8-1 win over Mount Olive at Frock Field on Wednesday night.

TEAM STATISTICS

- Catawba out-shot Mount Olive 26-7

- The Catawba Indians recorded 12 shots on goals to three for the Trojans

- UMO picked up four saves to Catawba's two

- Catawba logged 11 of 12 corner kicks in the game

- The Catawba Indians were called for nine fouls to Mount Olive's seven

INDIVIDUAL LEADERS

- Morgan Delair netted a pair of goals and notched an assist

- Kate Robinson scored the night's opening goal and assisted

- Adriana Ibanez Claret also picked up a goal and an assist

- Maria Rayburn notched the game-winner on a penalty kick

- Ryen Gibbs, Natalie Peterson and Rylie Cook also scored

- Savannah Singh and Erin Bleecker dished out assists

- Jenni Dahne earned the win in goal with two saves

HOW IT HAPPENED

FIRST HALF

- Mount Olive got the first shot on goal of the game in the 14th minute

- Another Trojan shot was stopped by Dahne in the 30th minute

- Robinson collected a saved penalty kick and fired in the game's first score in the 34th minute

- Gibbs drew a penalty in the box and Rayburn buried it for the eventual game winner in the 42nd minute

SECOND HALF

- Delair scored the first goal of the second half in the 55th minute

- Ibanez found Peterson in the box who buried a score less than three minutes later

- Mount Olive's Izzi Lugo launched a deep shot from 35 yards out that got the Trojans on the board

- Robinson found Gibbs on a run for an answer less than four minutes later

- Delair and Singh combined for Ibanez Claret's goal to make it a 6-1 in the 65th minute

- Delair converted a turnover into the Catawba Indians' seventh goal of the night just 53 seconds later

- Cook headed in a goal off of Bleecker's corner to take an 8-1 lead in the 84th minute

GAME NOTES

- Most goals for Catawba in a game since a 13-0 win over Bluefield State in 2022

- First multi-goal game of Delair's collegiate career
