#11 Women’s Soccer pushes win, clean sheet streak in shutout win over LMU

Salisbury, N.C. —- The 11th-ranked Catawba College women's soccer team improved to 6-0 on the season on Saturday, earning its fifth clean sheet of the young season in a 3-0 victory over Lincoln Memorial at Frock Field in South Atlantic Conference action.

TEAM STATISTICS

- Lincoln Memorial out-shot Catawba 20-17

- The Catawba Indians put nine shots on goal to seven for the Railsplitters

- Both teams recorded eight corner kicks in the match

- Catawba was called for five of eight fouls in the contest

INDIVIDUAL LEADERS

- Morgan Delair drew two penalties and converted a penalty kick

- Bree Ehmer netted the game-winner on a PK

- Adriana Ibanez Claret scored the lone goal of the second half on a corner kick

- Natalie Peterson delivered the assist on the Ibanez goal

- Jenni Dähne tallied seven saves in the clean sheet

HOW IT HAPPENED

FIRST HALF

- Delair tested the LMU keeper with a shot in the sixth minute

- LMU responded with a shot on goal of its own in the 14th minute

- Delair drew a penalty in the box in the 16th minute and Ehmer delivered on the PK

- Delair drew another penalty in the box just 55 seconds later and finished off the penalty kick herself to take a 2-0 lead in the 17th minute

- Three more Catawba shots threatened to score, but the LMU keeper helped keep their deficit to 2-0 at the half

SECOND HALF

- In a third corner kick in just over a minute, Catawba broke through when Peterson found Ibanez for a score to take the lead to 3-0 in the 56th minute

- With substitutions filtering their way through, Dähne stepped up for three saves in as many minutes

- LMU threatened with a flurry of shots in the closing minutes, but the Catawba Indians held the Railsplitters out of the back of the net for the fifth time this season

- Catawba returns to Frock Field on Friday, Sept. 26, hosting Columbus State in an NCAA Tournament rematch from a season ago
