Sumter, S.C. — Catawba College sophomores
Luca Bergonzi and
Agustin Mastri earned the first ITA Southeast Regional title in program history on Monday, when they clinched the Men's Doubles regional championship.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Men's Open Singles
- The top overall singles seed, Mastri, cruised to straight-set victories over opponents from Anderson, UVA Wise and Lincoln Memorial to reach the quarterfinal
- Mastri took the opening set from Flagler's Ilian Borlee, but fell in the final two to close his run in the quarters

Alen Bill fell in the opening round to Columbus State's Hugo Didier in a final-set tiebreak
- Bergonzi defeated his opening-round opponent from Lenoir-Rhyne 7-6, 6-3, but fell to the 16th seed from Flagler in the round of 32

Santiago Passoni swept through the first two rounds in his first action as a Catawba Indians, before besting Flagler's Raphael Rousson in three sets to advance to the quarterfinal, where would fall to the eventual regional champion Pedro Liborio from North Georgia

Mateo Berne earned the eight seed, but fell in the round of 32 to Coker's Marcio Silva
Men's Open Doubles
- Top seed Bill and Berne earned an opening-round victory before falling to a duo from Wingate in the round of 16
- Mastri and Bergonzi earned wins over duos from Columbus State, Wingate and Lenoir-Rhyne to reach the semis
- They bested teams from Lander in the semis and the final to earn the program's first-ever ITA Regional title
