SALISBURY, N.C. — The Catawba College athletic department is saddened to share the death of student-athlete Fletcher Harris as a result of a car accident on Friday, Jan. 16.
Harris, a native of nearby Catawba, N.C., was a beloved member of the men's soccer program for the past three seasons. A double major in Environmental and Sustainability and Biology, Harris was consistently recognized on the Presidential Honor Roll and Dean's List.
"We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of Fletcher Harris," said Vice President for Athletics Michelle Caddigan. "This is an unimaginable loss for his family, friends, and our campus community. Fletcher was an exceptional student, a dedicated athlete, and a true friend to so many. His impact extended far beyond the soccer field — he was a valued campus citizen whose character, kindness, and work ethic embodied everything we strive for in our student-athletes. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, teammates, and coaches, as well as all who had the privilege of knowing him during this incredibly difficult time. We will continue to support one another and honor his memory as we grieve together."
