JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. — The Catawba College men's basketball team takes its show on the road to begin 2026, heading to face South Atlantic Conference foe Carson-Newman on Saturday before returning to Salisbury for a Monday matchup with Livingstone.
Wasp Repellent
- Catawba brought the bug spray to its fall semester finale against Emory & Henry, taking care of the Wasps in a 91-75 victory
- Jordan Simpson led a group of six double-figure scorers with a season-high 20 points on four three-pointers
- Carson Daniel erupted with a decade-best 12 assists, helping produce 26 points including four first-half dunks
- The Catawba Indians prevailed in the rebounding battle for the eighth time this season, leading the way 32-29 despite being outnumbered on the offensive end for the first time
We Love the 90s
- Although our calendars flipped to 2026 a few days ago, Catawba showed a fondness for the 90s – at least scoring-wise – in the first semester
- Catawba has posted 90s scores in half of their first 10 games while holding all of their opponents to 80 or fewer; the most was 77 by Clayton State in a 96-77 Catawba win
Marginally Pretty Good
- Reading between the lines when analyzing Catawba's 35th-ranked 13.2 scoring margin, one will find that the wins have been large and the losses smaller
- All but one of the seven wins came by double digits and the three losses were suffered by a combined six points
- Coincidentally, Catawba appears to perform better when it does not win the turnover battle with a 3-0 record
Feels Like Home
- Although Monday's matchup with Livingstone is an away game, the campuses are located 1.4 miles apart as the crow flies on the west side of Salisbury
- In Blue Bear territory, the Catawba Indians have battled Livingstone three times and come back up the street with victories on each occasion
- Thus far, the blue and white have won each of their five contests at Goodman Arena with back-to-back home triumphs before the winter break
