Wilson, N.C. —- The 5th-ranked Catawba College baseball team hit three home runs on Tuesday in a 15-2 win at Barton, including an eighth-inning grand slam from senior Ty Hubbard.

- Matthew Connolly was 3-for-5 with a home run, four RBI and three runs scored
- Hubbard was a triple shy of the cycle with a grand slam, five RBI and two runs scored
- Nathan Chrismon homered and tripled with two RBI, three runs scored and a stolen base
- Parker Lakey earned his first collegiate win with two unearned runs allowed across 5.2 innings with six strikeouts
- Kaden Neuman, Seth Sharpe and Casey Gouge combined for a scoreless 2.1 innings of relief
HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST INNING
- Connolly hit a two-out RBI single up the middle to get Catawba on the board in the first
- An error scored another run, extending the inning to allow Malachi Cloud's RBI double to score Catawba's third run before Barton came to the plate
THIRD INNING
- Chrismon reached on an error and stole second in the third
- Cloud's two-out RBI single gave Catawba a 4-0 lead
FOURTH INNING
- Hubbard doubled to lead off the fourth, reaching third on an error
- Sam Hunter's RBI sac fly extended the lead once more
- Chrismon's two-out, two-run homer pushed Catawba's lead to 7-0
FIFTH INNING
- Hubbard added another two-out RBI base knock with a single in the fifth with the Catawba Indians up 8-0
SIXTH INNING
- Connolly lifted his second homer of the season with two outs in the sixth on a two-run shot, making it a 10-0 Catawba lead
- A two-out error extended Barton's half of the sixth and the Bulldogs scored two on a two-out single to center
EIGHTH INNING
- Chrismon hit a one-out triple in the eighth and scored on Connolly's RBI single
- Two walks loaded the bases for Hubbard's grand slam, the first of his career to pile on the lead

- Catawba makes its long-awaited debut at home this season on Friday, kicking off South Atlantic Conference play with a matchup with Tusculum at 5 p.m.
