Due West, S.C. — The 9th-ranked Catawba College women's tennis team defeated Erskine in its first match of the 2026 spring season in a rematch of the opening round of the 2025 NCAA Division II Southeast Regional on Tuesday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
DOUBLES
- Sofia Antolini and Rin Igarashi earned the opening win in doubles play at #2s, 6-3
- After Erskine took the third-ranked match, Ami Miya and Lili Drukerova clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 win
SINGLES
- Igarashi made quick work in her singles match, defeating the fourth-ranked singles player from the Flying Fleet, 6-1, 6-2
- Tina Gomes earned a win at #6s with a 6-1, 6-4 victory
- Katya Kldiashvili earned a singles win in her Catawba debut, picking up a win at #5s, 6-0, 6-1
- After falling in a tiebreak in the first set, Antolini won the second set 6-3 and won the ultimate tiebreak, 10-8
- Miya started off with a 6-3 in the opening set before falling in the second frame by the same score; she added a 10-7 tiebreak to start her spring with a win
