Belmont, N.C. — The 11th-ranked Catawba College baseball team maneuvered around go-ahead runners in scoring position in three straight innings to plate five runs in the 11th inning to earn a top-25 region win at Belmont Abbey on Tuesday afternoon.
TEAM STATISTICS

INDIVIDUAL LEADERS
- Joe Burleyson earned the win on the mound, allowing a run across three innings
- Parker Lakey was solid again in the start, allowing two runs on one swing with three hits and one walk surrendered in 4.2 innings
- Brandon Crabtree went 3-for-4 with two walks, an RBI and two runs scored
- Ty Hubbard singled, drove in two and scored the go-ahead run
- Sam Hunter drove in the go-ahead run on a single

FOURTH INNING
- Belmont Abbey scored the game's first runs on a two-out, two-run homer in the fourth
EIGHTH INNING
- Belmont Abbey forced a strikeout with two outs, but the ball got away from the Crusaders' catcher, allowing Catawba to extend the frame with runners on the corners
- Jack Cuba's pinch-hit infield single got Catawba on the board
- Hubbard came through with the go-ahead hit with two RBI to go up 3-2
- A one-out double put runners on second and third for Belmont Abbey in the bottom half
- A sacrifice fly scored the tying run; Burleyson got the groundout to strand the go-ahead runner at third
NINTH INNING
- Belmont Abbey singled and bunted over its runner to start the ninth
- A flyout moved the potential winning number up to third
- Burleyson forced a flyout to extend the game to extras

- Two singles put two runners on base for the Crusaders with two down in the tenth
- Burleyson forced the flyout to continue the game
ELEVENTH INNING
- Hubbard drew a leadoff walk in the 11th
- A bunt moved him over to second, which allowed Hunter's single up the middle to score the go-ahead run
- Another sacrifice bunt pushed a potential insurance run in scoring position
- Crabtree drove Hunter home with a single to right-center
- A single and a hit-by-pitch loaded the bases, where Logan Dyer's RBI walk pushed Catawba's lead to 6-3
- Kylan Odean's first collegiate hit added two more runs to take a five-run lead to the bottom half
- Braeden Major struck out the final two batters in a 1-2-3 inning to complete the comeback win
