WILSON, N.C. — After falling behind by two goals in the opening half, the Catawba College men's lacrosse team battled back and pulled away from Barton in 12-9 fashion at Truist Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
TEAM STATS
- Catawba (3-0) trailed the overall shot count 43-36, but boasted an advantage in on-goal fires at 19-18
- Barton (1-4) took slightly better care of the rock, doing better in turnovers by a 20-19 edge
- The Bulldogs out-cleared the Catawba Indians 18-15 with a success rate difference of .818-.750
- Ground ball pickups tipped in the visitors' favor by a 31-27 margin, highlighted by a 17-10 second half
- BC won more faceoffs at 12-10; Catawba was powered by Cael Petroff's eight wins and a 2-for-3 day by Mason Adams
- Catawba's Ben LoPiccolo knocked away nine shots competed to Barton's Luke Woollars who recorded seven saves on 12 tallies
INDIVIDUAL STATS
- Peyton Turner put four of his team-high nine shots into the back of the net
- Tanner Stout tacked on two goals and chased down two ground balls
- Brothers Boston Rehrer and Stratton Rehrer each had one goal and one assist to cap off two-point performances
- Outside of LoPiccolo's nine ground balls, Petroff and Owen Conway nabbed four pickups apiece
- Stout, Eric Fruge and Kier McKnight each registered two ground balls
- Conway was credited with two of the Catawba Indians' three caused turnovers; Peter Gerardo had the other
